Managing Director and Owner
David has worked in the direct mail and print industries for close to three decades. Over the last 17 years, David has built First Move to be a premier supplier of direct mail services, as well as a leader in associated outsourced fulfilment.
Offering a full service to its clients through proven planning and account management skills, last year First Move worked with 317 clients to mail 41 million items and despatch £1.8 million of same-day orders from its location in the Thames Valley.
Citing the valuable benefits of the DIRECT MAIL 101 programme, David’s vision is to create a service that delivers better results and streamlines costs to transform businesses through direct mail.
Deputy Managing Director
Rachel joined First Move after starting her career with Lloyds Bank which culminated in the City of London working on a trading floor.
Rachel joined First Move and has brought her professionalism to bear in a number of key areas in account management and now the Operations of the company and takes on this new role as from January 2015. As well as working with clients such as Arsenal FC outside of work her time is devoted to the newest member of the family her newly arrived son.
Having dedicated her career to direct mail for the past 30 years, After a number of years in Client Services Elaine has moved her considerable knowledge to the area of Operations where she will be responsible for production and the scheduling of the companies activities to meet client deadlines. Elaine will also continue to head up the Wine Society contract and a small number of other clients.
During Elaine’s time in the industry she has worked on projects for a variety of high-profile clients, including Volvo, Hertz UK, Leyland Daf, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, and Harper Collins.
Client Services Manager
Aran is now into his 25th year within the industry, during that time he has held various senior roles at some of the largest, most prestigious and pioneering print and digital print companies. Aran is rightly proud of his possibly unique achievement of winning the coveted, Printweek “Digital Print Company of the year” whilst at three different companies.
Aran joined Firstmove in February 2016 to head up the client services team.
Sally’s six-year tenure at First Move represents only a quarter of her extensive direct marketing industry experience. Initially working as an account executive in database management, she understands direct marketing in its most complex form and how to apply it to the greater needs of her clients.
Sally’s contacts within the exhibition industry have flourished with the likes of Fresh Montgomery, Informa, UBM Information, Brand Events and still after 18 years Reed Exhibitions. Sally’s bright and lively personality is enjoyed by her clients and out of work is focused on her son, his numerous sports and the family love of travel.
Senior Account Manager
With 20-plus years in direct marketing and project management, Mike has overseen a wealth of mailing campaigns. He has seen every aspect of the industry, from building exhibition stands, to devising and implementing telemarketing projects through to running teams of people.
Since joining First Move in 2001, Mike manages client relationships across many sectors, including the financial, education, social housing, charity and arts sectors, both directly and via agency clients. With a proactive and solutions-focused attitude, Mike’s clients enjoy his calm and reassuring approach to their campaigns.
Julie joined First Move in 2008 after a successful career in marketing and advertising for theatres and local attractions. She brings her inimitable style and meticulous nature to every campaign to ensure client satisfaction. Her extensive portfolio includes companies within the travel industry, NHBC and The Kennel Club.
Her reassuring manner and honest approach have proved invaluable within the fast-changing world of direct marketing. Complicated campaigns are her speciality, unfazed by the more specialist campaigns that she has run.
Digital Print Manager
David is a seasoned professional, and has been operating in the print industry as both client services and print management for over 28 years. This has given David a unique insight into what customers needs are, allowing him to develop flexible production cycles. Responsible for keeping the Xerox Trivor 2400 running, as well as our iGen 4 and 8 other digital systems in operation and running seamlessly, so clients never feel a hitch. He manages a team of digital print experts, whilst overseeing production control, quality and throughput.
David has worked with some of the worlds leading companies in lithographic and digital print over his professional career and joined First Move in 2016.
John has worked in the direct marketing sector since 2002 and joined First Move in 2009 as part of the sales team. Focusing on new business development, John’s main role is to expertly guide First Move’s clients to the most cost-effective solutions for print, personalisation and postage, as well as the most thoughtful use of data to get the best return on investment.
First Move’s extensive investment in digital colour print allows John to offer our clients a wide range of potential solutions for their direct marketing campaigns, positioning First Move as a strategic partner for clients.
Martin has over 15 years’ experience in direct marketing and digital print and 25 years’ experience in IT systems, business analysis and data managements, making for a wealth of knowledge at First Move.
Starting in global financial and insurance systems, and international market research, Martin works to the highest levels of data accuracy and integrity on customer databases and complex data analysis and reporting.
He works with and for early adopters of new technology to deliver innovative customer communications via print, web and email, and has expert knowledge in data processing and data utilisation, database design and workflow.
Ben joined First Move in 2015 after a successful career in financial services. For 11 years Ben has been at the front line of customer service working in the utilities sector, leisure and technology. His extensive knowledge in these sectors and direct mail acumen, enable him to service the most demanding of clients with ease.
His reassuring manner and honest approach have proven to be an invaluable asset at First Move and for his clients.
