Mailsort explained
When you send a large number of items by post there are a number of options that can result in considerable savings for you. Using our experience and specialist knowledge we will identify and suggest the best and most cost effective way to get your mailing delivered.
Whether it’s Royal Mail, or one of the new companies competing for a share of UK postal business, as the market changes we stay right up to date with the latest developments. Any savings will be passed onto you. It’s just one more way you benefit when you choose First Move.
What is Mailsort?
Mailsort is based upon organising large mailings into specific groups, so that when Royal Mail collects it, it can be moved to its destination quickly.
Your data will be processed and sorted into postcode order throughout the country, enabling the mail to be sorted as it is produced. The mail is then packed into labelled bags for direct delivery to the relevant post office. At least 90% of the postcodes must be accurate for this to be done.
By pre-sorting your mail, savings of up to 30% can be made on the postage costs. The size of the discount depends on the type of mail being sent and how quickly it needs to be delivered.
Is Walksort more suitable for your mailing?
Taking the Mailsort concept further, Walksort can offer savings of over 35%, if you have large volumes of mail for smaller concentrated areas.
The addresses are processed and sorted into the right order for the delivery staff to take out on their rounds. This saves Royal Mail a huge amount of time and therefore they give larger discounts.
Mailsort/Walksort Report
Mailsort and Walksort software generate a report that accompanies the mailing to the Post Office. A copy of this report is available for your inspection, so you can see the savings you are making.
Can you benefit from us Mailsorting or Walksorting your mailing?
Both are available on mailings of 4000 or more for ‘letters’ or 1000 or more for ‘large letters’. For further information on Mailsort, and the new Royal Mail pricing classification and structure, please see www.royalmail.co.uk.
Is your mailing going abroad?
If you are sending quantities of mail overseas it may be more cost effective to consolidate it and send it direct via an overseas postal service. Many foreign Postal Services, such as Swiss or Deutsche Post, have facilities in the UK. We only use the major European Post Offices, so you can be 100% sure that your service levels will not be compromised.
Royal Mail Competitors
You may have a further choice of service. There are now effective competitors to the Royal Mail 2nd class mail deliveries and next day services to businesses with Central London postcodes. Savings that can be achieved depend upon the weight of the item to be mailed and the volume. We will be happy to investigate and make recommendations in this area.
